Spring has sprung!
You can hear it in the air with all those birds chirping each sunrise. The green hills and the afternoon breezes are here. It's Springtime!
Most of us are about to embark on Spring Break, taking things outdoors for fun adventures. Why not include your dog? Or even better, why wait for Fall when Spring is a perfect time to have portraits done of your pet or your family, or better still...both!
Read on to hear about Stanley, a Bully/Boxer mix, and his Springtime portrait session.
Meet Stoic Stanley
When Stanley's mom pulled up, I knew not to rush the car door and to give room to him. You see, Stanley, a rescue, needs to warm up to people. Thanks to the questionnaire his mom filled out for me, I knew this ahead of time. We took our time walking through the very popular park for portrait photographers. This parks backs up to a trail system in Murrieta, CA that borders the hills to the west and the Murrieta Creek to it's north and south. Luckily, it's pretty slow when it comes to pet photographers, so it was the perfect place for our adventure to begin. Above all, Stanley could feel safe in a quiet environment.
The session began with a bit of shyness.
Wandering into the Woods
One of the things that makes this area so loved is the forest vibe. Large groves of eucalyptus trees flank a dirt pathway that wanders past the creek. And in the Spring, oh man is it lovely! We started off slow using lots of space so that Stanley wouldn't feel closed in and right off the bat he was a natural! It's important to consider all aspects of a space as it pertains to how a dog will adjust. Stanley became comfortable enough to strike a few poses!
Sykes Ranch Park has lots of room to roam and for dogs to have the space they need when reactiveness can be an issue.
A Lovely Spring Afternoon was a Success!
As we continued to make our way through grove, we found opportunities for Stanley to pose showing all the colors and beauty that a spring session could offer. So if you're planning on booking a photographer for that busy time in the fall, you may want to consider doing it now. The benefits to a Springtime portrait session is that places are typically less crowded, many have time off during Spring Break and the time of year is less hectic without all the holidays. If that convinces you, I'd love to hear from you!
Stanley begins to enjoy his adventure!
More and more looking straight at the camera!
Stanley is getting the hang of it and even warmed up to me by letting me scratch his head!
Springtime green is a perfect compliment to red dogs!
I think Springtime sessions make for the prettiest photos!
Thank you Stanley! You made the purrfect Springtime model!
Fine Art Pet Photographer
It's all about your dog and his bond with you!
I'm passionate about photographing dogs because I love the reaction owners have when they see their dog in large print or on a large screen in all their glory! Dogs deserve to be honored just as any member of the family would be. Reach out to find more.
